Leïla Slimani, born in Rabat, Morocco in 1981 and moved to Paris when she was 18. After university, she became a journalist for Jeune Afrique. Her first novel, Dans le jardin de l’ogre, was published by Gallimard in 2014. Two years later, Gallimard published her second novel, Chanson douce, which was awarded the Prix Goncourt.
