Ever since his girlfriend dumped him, Florent has been wallowing in boredom and it’s not his job at the unemployment office that will make him feel better. Then on one dull day, like any other, a strange group of people show up — five men and two women dressed from in leather and covered with tattoos. This unusual biker gang just lost there jobs at the local factory and need to collect unemployment and look for new work.

Florent becomes quite fond of this joyous group of soft-hearted hell raisers, especially the beautiful (and goth) Lily-Rose. He does everything he can to help them, giving and in ways that go above and beyond his usual role. Somehow, helping them gives new purpose to his banal life. And then very unusual opportunity presents itself.

The Unemployment Office organizes a competition to select a group of performers to go on tour around France. Florent is convinced that his biker friends have a chance of winning and creates quite the spectacle for them that has them acting and singing. And so begins a challenge that sets them all on an extraordinary adventure to the most improbable locations, from retirement communities to industrial zone parking lots.

Antoine Solaire, born in 1991, held a vast array of jobs: an activity leader at a holiday club, a cashier, a nanny, a lifeguard, an ergonomist and a consultant. La Bande des vilains petits canards is his first novel.
