After observing complex managerial situations over many years, Frédéric Demarquet could see that many strategies that were used to improve crisis situations or organizational development were counter-productive. How a business runs could be compared to how we harm nature — using pesticides and fertilizer, exhausting soil in the long run, plowing the land so deep. In business, the never-ending changing of procedures, the constant pressure and the lack of means to accomplish tasks can exhaust the ressources of a company.

Permaculture allows for an output by square meter that is 5 to 10 times superior while totally preserving the ecosystem. Imagine if a business was just as fragile as an ecosystem. What if the methods used for permaculture could be adapted to a company allowing for a greater output while preserving the mental and physical health of employees?

That’s just what Frédéric Demarquet wondered when he developed permamanagement.
