In this book within a book is the powerful love story between a woman and the writer she would never be able to have completely. Edna could not foresee that when she met her writer her whole lifewould change. As his Australian editor, she greeted him at the airport when he arrived to promote his latest novel. To say she fell in love with him would be an understatement.

She gave up everything and left Australia to be nearer to him in New York. This, even though she knew that he could never truly be hers. He is still holding onto the memories of his wife and daughter who died in a terrible accident years earlier. Edna takes whatever moments with him that she can get, whether in NY, Frankfurt, Rome or Paris, believing that it would be enough yet always hoping for more. A more that he could never give her while having no idea what she gave up to be (almost) with him. It was the impossibility of him that kept her coming back.

Many years later Molly, an Australian editor working in NY publishing, is reading a novel about Edna and her writer but it's only a partial manuscript. The name of the author is nowhere to be found and the literary agent who submitted the manuscript to her has passed away.

Molly is so drawn into the story of Edna and her writer that she is determined to find the mysterious author. She needs to know how Edna’s story ends.

Caro Llewellynwas listed in the Australian newspaper's 2022 Top 100 Arts and Cultural Leaders alongside fellow Australians Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, and Nicole Kidman. She was the Artistic Director of Sydney Writers’ Festival, the PEN World Voices Festival chaired by Salman Rushdie, Festival des Écrivains du Monde in Paris for Columbia University, and the New Literature from Europe Festival. She has written feature stories about Norman Mailer, Janet Malcolm, and Andrew O’Hagan and has been a contributor to The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Guardian, and The Australian. She is the author of four works of non-fiction including the Stella Prize-shortlisted memoir Diving into Glass (Hamish Hamilton, 2019). Love Unedited is her first novel.
