Matria, a utopian island, was saved and protected over a century ago by a group of women. Women make up the majority of the inhabitants still on the island. Charlotte, a young technician arrives in this idyllic little world. Her interactions with Marianne —part-shaman, part visionary —will completely transform her life.

But it’s the return of Fabrizio, Marianne’s twin brother, from exile that will rip open old wounds and disrupt the function of the island as much as Charlotte’s feelings.

Will she manage to pacify both brother and sister?

Juliette Garrigue, was he winner of the Arthur Rimbaud Poetry Prize when she was 17. This is her first novel.
