A successful crime series set in Nice featuring a fifty-something female private detective…

If the rest of France is right, in Nice there is the sun, the sea, tourists, the elderly and fascists. But not just that. There’s also Ghjulia – “Diou” – Boccanera, a fiftysomething without children, a coffee addict and insomniac. She’s a private detective in Doc Martens.

A man with the face of an angel asks her to investigate the death of his boyfriend before he himself is assassinated. Diou va go all over town to find the culprit. It’s a city under construction everywhere where rainbow flags are displayed proudly while solidarity with foreigners is met with hostility…

In the middle of this southern western, Diou can reply on her handy neighbor, a work inspector and above all a strong dose of being so completely unaware when faced with danger.

Michèle Pedinielli, born in Nice with a mix of Corsican and Italian, moved to Paris to become a journalist for about 15 years. Now back in the city where she was born, she is writing full-time.
