A debut novel with an ending not to be missed!

A tense debut novel, Fracture(s) tells the story of a destructive friendship between two middle school students. Côme comes from a very privileged background while Arthur is raised by his single mom who works for Côme’s father. She is determined for Arthur to have a bright future.

Arthur’s fascination with Côme and his easy life borders on obsession. He even develops a crush on Chloé, Côme’s sister. But it’s never clear if Côme genuinely considers Arthur as a friend or if he just likes being idolized by someone less fortunate than he is.

But fortune is a fickly beast. Côme’s father, Vincent, is accused of embezzlement and his sister Chloe is found murdered. And Arthur is always there, on the circumference, from the outside looking in.

Lidwine Van Lancker lives in Marseille. After studying urban planning, she worked in social housing, among other fields, and was a correspondent for La Provence. As the mother of three, she is a keen observer of the mental health vulnerabilities of adolescents.
