Chloe Bridgers, a new-school food blogger in Paris, has landed an interview to write the coveted tell-all memoir of controversial celebrity chef, Carla Duris. The only catch is that to get the role, she has to compete against a group of cutthroat, world-class food writers during a weekend-long job interview at the Duris family villa on the glistening Côte d’Azur. Already feeling like a fish out of water, Chloe starts to worry that old-school French-American journalist, Henri de la Fontaine is sabotaging things for her and the others. But is winning the only thing he has in mind?

As the weekend unfolds, interviewees are seemingly sent packing at random and tensions among the remaining writers boil over. Does Chloe have what it takes to get the job, or will she become the next casualty in the fight to write for Madame Duris?

Victoria Brownlee is a food writer who lived in Paris and then in the South of France before returning to her native Australia. She’s spent the best part of the last decade eating her way around the world, including a stint in China where she was the Food & Drink Editor at Time Out Shanghai. In 2016, she traded dumplings for cheese, moving to Paris and publishing her first novel: Fromage à Trois (US, 2018) / Escape to the Paris Cheese Shop (UK, 2018), followed by its sequel Brioche in the Oven (US, 2020) / Escape to the French Farmhouse (UK, 2019).
