L’arabe confus

by

In this deeply personal book, Sofiane Si Merabet explores his Algerian and French roots: what does it mean to be nostalgic for a culture that one hasn’t really experienced? How does one build an identity between two cultures, two countries sometimes three, and as many loyalties? Questions that will resonate strongly in our current society…

Born in the 1980s in Nantes into a family of Algerian origin, Sofiane Si Merabet has been living in Dubai for 15 years where he works. To preserve traces of his experiences in the Middle East and bring together his multiple identities, he created the Instagram account The Confused Arab, which quickly gathered a vast community among the Arab diaspora. The Confused Arab is his first book.
