In the 2010s, when faced with the relentless progression of ISIS in Syria, a resistance grew out from the Kurdish forces. At the heart of this resistance were many women.

Young women came as reinforcement on the ground; experienced soldiers well-versed in combat, weapons handling and with the right reflexes to have when at war.

Determined women, ready to do anything in the name of fighting for freedom in order to not be oppressed by Islamic fundamentalists.

Kurdish women who also held on to their femininity, their values and their thirst for emancipation and for justice.

The she-wolf of Dersîm is all of these women and Yasmina Kramer tells their stories in this action-packed and poignant novel of friendship, courage and determination.

Yasmina Kramer was born in 1981 in Algeria to a German mother and Moroccan father. She moved to France at the beginning of the Black Decade when was sever years old. She was as a journalist before working for Doctors Without Borders. She is once again a journalist, working freelance to tell the stories of people who are affected by war.
