It’s the 1980s and Arty, 11, is convinced that his house is trying to strangle him. Is it in his head or is the house really out to get him? Does his family know and could they become victims as well.

Arty’s father Paul is the one who designed the house, the first to be built on this particular plot of land. How could it be haunted? As Arty tries to understand what happens, he learns that his parents had a daughter; he had an older sister he never knew about who died in a tragic accident at a young age. Arty considers that it’s perhaps her who is haunting the house. But then realizes that she may have been the first victim.

With the help of his bike, his friends, his videotapes and the magnetic Anna, Arty tries to figure out what is going on and in the process will lose his carefree, childhood existence.

Raphaël Zamochnikoff , born in 1977, grew up near the deep forests of the Jura. Bored with school at 17, he began writing adventure novels. He fed his love of cinema and storytelling but writing screenplays and shooting short films. La maison vénéneuse is his first completed and published novel.
